It Was Over
The rain pelted my face as it laid on the cool wet grass. My eyes blinked at the drops resting on my lashes. I took in a lifeless breath filling my horse lungs; it settled causing my head to feel heavy. I laid there not moving, I couldn't tell what exactly was going on around my still body. I used all my energy to move my hand under my chest to lift myself from the ground. The grass was soggy from the rain causing my hand to sink in some under the weight of my petite body. My arm collapsed bringing my body crashing down fast and hard, my next attempt pushing my knees towards my torso giving myself more balance. I rested there on my knees looking around at the burning SUV and another small compact car turned upside down and mangled together with the SUV. About a half a foot away from me lay Cooper's lifeless, still body. I moved on my knees across the soggy ground towards him, the dirt and grass staining my bare legs. I turned his body over. Cooper was in shape, his body was not gigantic but difficult for my small self to turn over. His nose had dried blood smeared across it from his forehead; it had been cut into by some-sort of sharp object I guessed. I pulled my damp hair from my face and leaned into his face, checking for any kind of breath. At the moment I thought I felt air his body came to life and shoved mine out of the was forcefully. He was standing and looking around as if to start a fight, his eyes widened when he in took the situation. Mine followed looking more to the detail, we were not the only people at the scene. The car that was smashed into are SUV carried two occupants as well. The first a large dark skinned man mashed between the wheel of the car and the seat, his chest looked as if it was hugging the steering wheel like a mother protecting a newborn baby. The passenger next to him was a women, she wore a leather jumpsuit and was draped upon the hood of our SUV blood and glass bits surrounding her body dripping to the ground. The third person though, I knew. Michael was a former friend who happened to get in with the wrong crow; or was it the right crowd? I was not sure who the real bad guys were anymore. Cooper's face fell upon me as I sat on the ground staring at the destruction; he stumbled over to me. He grabbed my arm pulling me to my feet ushering me to move in the opposite direction of the scene, I was uncertain if he was even speaking to me. The sound coming through my ears sounds jumbled like I was holding a pillow over them. We were moving fast now, almost running, and I could still feel his hand on my arm pulling my stunned body in his desired direction. We reached a main road with cars rushing by, some slowing down to the sight of two mangled people walking from a back area. Another black SUV pulled to the curb where we stood; I had not even noticed that Cooper had called Danny and the others, had he? Or had the just known? I don't know and decided as Cooper opened the front passenger door and lifted me in that I did not even care. Cody was driving, he looked at me then to Cooper who had gotten in the seat behind me with Danny franticly. "She is in shock." Coopers hoarse and stressed voice informed him, putting Cody a little more at ease as he drove off. I stared out the window watching the city I grew up in pass me by. I felt shocked that everything had ended up like this. My face feel to my wrists that ached and burned; they were read and bruised all around. I gasped as I remembered the events that lead to the accident. I began to scream, and become frantic. Cody panicking pulled the SUV over on the highway. I opened the door the instant it stopped and poured out of the car to the ground.
